Saul Villarreal is a rising force in the música Mexicana scene, recognized for his emotive “sad sierreño” sound and contemporary indie influences. An Austin, Texas native of Mexican descent, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter began his journey at age 19, quickly mastering the guitar and self-producing his music to capture deep, heartfelt narratives. He gained significant traction in 2024 and 2025 with the release of his debut EP Ilusión and his standout 2025 project Mejor Solo </3, which features popular tracks like “TU PERFUME” and “CLVH”. Known for blending traditional sierreño roots with modern vulnerability, Villarreal has become a staple on global playlists such as “Corridos 2026” and “Música Mexicana Rising”.
